With a regal name like Chequessett Yacht & Country Club, one might assume that this waterfront Cape Cod wedding venue has a buttoned-up feel; more for wingtip types rather than sand-in-your-toes people. So not the case!
Perched on a dune at the entrance to Wellfleet Harbor, the venue is the embodiment of Cape Cod casual which is exactly why Dana and Tucker chose to have their wedding here. The ability to have a sand-in-the-toes ceremony – literally – and epic water views also made Chequessett a no-brainer for this laidback, fun-loving couple.
After getting ready, her maids and family at her side, Dana was stunning in a lace sheath gown. Her manicure added a whimsical touch to the formal gown. Getting the couple’s fur baby into his tux was Tucker’s job.
Before moving on to Chequessett, the couple had a private “first look” where Tucker was absolutely blown away by his beautiful bride.
It was time to get married.
Dana was escorted by both her mother and father as she made her way to the beach at the venue where she and Tucker would exchange their vows. The barn-style doors of the boathouse, the casual space where the cocktail hour would be held, were closed, keeping the beautifully decorated room hidden until party time. A floral “D” and “T” affixed to the doors offered just a hint of the couple’s wedding décor.
White chairs were arranged in a graceful arc to allow every guest an unobstructed view of the ceremony and the water beyond. The chairs closest to the aisle were decorated with colorful nosegays in vintage-style, glass milk bottles
After exchanging their vows, Tucker wowed the crowd by giving Dana a dramatic dip. A golf cart – so apropos for the country club venue – decorated with a “Just Married” sign awaited, as did frozen margaritas, for a private post-nuptial spin around the grounds.
Now officially married, and properly fortified with a margarita, Dana and Tucker returned to the beach where photographer Amy Dykens took informal portraits of the couple, and their fur baby and wedding party, as their guests kicked off the reception with the cocktail hour.
Following the cocktail reception, Dana and Tucker, and their guests, moved into the country club for dinner. One of the unique aspects of this Cape Cod wedding venue is its two distinct spaces, both of which can be utilized by couples. While the boathouse has a rustic look, the clubhouse has a slightly more formal feel.
After dinner, it was back to the boathouse to boogie on down, with the gentle ocean breezes keeping everyone cool as the evening heated up!
